Newbee

Hi all. I'm new to this community.

I have TWO flowers I'm having trouble identifying. I took these pictures in the Sierra Nevada region of California.

I spend hours and hours studying Field Guides and Googling on-line .... but these are just puzzles to me. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The purple one is an allium lily-relative of some sort, the white one I've never, ever seen, and I grew up in California and spent a lot of years running around the Sierra. (I've never been to King's Canyon! Every time I've gotten up to Sequoia, even late in the spring, KC has been snowed in.)

Have you checked CalFlora? It's at least worth the free membership (they don't misuse email addresses) and probably worth a paid one.

I went cross-country skiing on highway 89 in Lassen one April, on 9' of snow. They finally plowed it for Independence Day weekend. :)

Usually, Tioga Pass out of Yosemite is plowed by Memorial Day, but it depends on how deep it is and whether they expect more snow. I think it's nifty how we have snow like that in what folks think of as "sunny California."
